About The Hip Replacement Registry
I had my left hip resurfaced in March 2006. The operation is similar to a total hip replacement, but it is a modern version that does not cut off your femur bone. There are no restrictions to your activities after surgery.
I have a large Patient to Patient website about Hip Resurfacing called Surface Hippy. It is very well used since people are looking for information and options for hip replacement. It is not supported by any medical manufactures or companies, so the information is not biased. So I thought a similar patient to patient website about Back Pain would also be a great resource for people. A place to read about what is new, medical studies, articles and other information.
I also have a large Patient to Patient website about Total Hip Replacement called Hips for You. It is also very well used since people are looking for information and options for total hip replacement.
Many Hip Replacement surgeries go well and patients have quick and easy recoveries. Other surgeries don't go as well and patients have slow and difficult recoveries. Some surgeries have very poor outcomes and require revisions. Other countries have National Registries that keep track of all the statistics about hip replacement surgeries and the doctors that perform the surgeries. The United States is not as fortunate to have such a free exchange of information from such registries. Several large Yahoo Discussion Groups do provide potential hip replacement patients with information and an exchange of information with other people that have either had hip replacements or are searching for an answer. The Hip Replacement Registry is an informal collection of such information for potential patients to learn about other people's experiences with hip replacment.
